About the Event
Did you just arrive in the US or Atlanta, and would you love to have an informal place to ask questions and hear stories from other international students? Are you looking for a safe place to ask questions like:
“What do I do when….?” “What does it mean……?” “What should I say/do if……?” “Is it okay to…….?” “Is it safe to……?” “I am not sure I can stay here if…..?”
Join us for an online meeting with local Americans of all backgrounds along with experienced international students who have been in your situation and know what it feels like to worry, wonder, and question. This is a non-academic setting, so it is perfect for your social questions, cultural questions, and those things that may sound silly to your friends and classmates without experiencing any academic pressure. You can anonymously submit your questions ahead of time and listen to the answers given. We want you to feel excited about your new adventure and feel open and supported to get answers to your questions.
Meet the panelists who will be answering your questions:
Demi - Demi loves reading, walking, exploring the city, visiting museums, enjoying concerts, and savoring new culinary delights. As the host and meetup organizer for English language learners, Demi is a passionate advocate for cultural exchange and community building.
Tu - Hailing from Vietnam, Tu is an avid traveler and outdoor adventurer. When not exploring new places, you'll find Tu with a book in hand, on the tennis court, or dancing the night away. Tu's journey as an international student offers a valuable perspective on adapting to new environments.
Sarah - A culinary explorer and social justice advocate, Sarah combines a love for cooking and trying new foods with a commitment to mindfulness and fitness. Her volunteer work with Inspiritus and Advocates for Immigrant Rights showcases her dedication to supporting immigrant communities.
Shammah - Shammah loves visiting restaurants and trying new foods along with cooking and creating content. As an international student graduate who once wished for a supportive community, Shammah is now eager to volunteer knowledge and time to help other internationals navigate their own experiences in the US.
