About the Event

Join AMIS for an afternoon of hiking, grilling, and learning at this historic civil war site. AMIS will work with students to arrange transportation. Carpooling is encouraged, and we will email parking information to those who sign up.
At 2 pm, AMIS will gather at the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Visitor Center and museum with exhibits telling the story of military and civilian life, medicine, and communication during the Civil War. After the museum, we will hike to the top of the mountain (there is also a shuttle bus option for $3) for a spectacular view of Atlanta and the surrounding areas. We will end the afternoon grilling hotdogs, hamburgers and veggie burgers on the grill in the picnic area next to the Visitor's Center followed by the all-America treat S'mores!
Come to the Vistor's Center at 1pm for a Park Ranger led tour of the museum.
